Team Ireland are the first squad out of the blocks for the Motocross of Nations rider line-up announcement with Martin Barr once again the first name on the Irish team sheet.
Jason Meara will race in the MXGP class and with no age limit, Barr will be in the MX2 class. Completing the trio is Stuart Edmonds in the Open class.
They'll be looking to make the main event and perhaps improve on their 13th last year when the team was forced to draft two fill-in riders.
"I still have the heart and desire to be the best I can be," said Barr. "Always really happy to get that phone call to say I've been picked for Team Ireland in the MXoN! Assen will be my 15th consecutive year and can't wait to go sand surfing...roll on September."
Sounds like the 31-year-old (32 by the time it is underway) has a few more in him yet. We wish our Irish friends all the best for when the gate drops on September 28/29 in Assen.
