Nitro Circus set for summer dates

On the back of three UK arena dates in February, Travis Pastranas Nitro Circus will tour the UK in June with a month-long schedule of nationwide outdoor shows.

The tour will not be announced until tomorrow (February 5) but we caught up with NC's Vice President Global Touring Kurt Nicoll last week who was happy to give TMX readers a heads-up on the plans.
"We're actually on tour right now in Europe but what I'm doing is finalising the venues for an outdoor tour.
"We're going to do I think probably 13 cities in the UK and Ireland through the summer at outdoor venues.
It's a little bit different for us."
The calendar is set to be officially revealed tomorrow but, in the meantime, Kurt confirmed some venues.
"Off the top of my head we're going to do three in Ireland so Belfast, Dublin and Cork and we're going to do Edinburgh, Newcastle, Hull, Sheffield, Swansea, Yeovil and Brighton. We're going to cover the whole country.
Athletes
"We finish our tour of Australia the week before and then most of the main athletes will be coming over. It will be basically the same show that we put on in the arenas although we have a slightly different set outside because we have more space so some of the jumps will be bigger."
The UK in June isn't exactly assured of good weather but Kurt's confident rain won't stop play.
"We have done outdoor shows before but never in England. We always give ourselves the possibility to come back the next day [if the weather's bad]. We've done a lot of places outdoors and only lost one or two places completely. It's amazing, you can normally get it away."
For Kurt - a seven-time British MX champion, four-time world 500cc runner-up and a member of the victorious '94 British MXdN team - the Cork date will be especially emotional as Vernon Mount was the scene of the final of his 13 GP victories back in 1995.
"I really loved that track and always raced well there," he added. "I haven't been back to Ireland since then."
