On test: 2012 KTM motocross range

One of my fondest memories as a youth dirt rider was going down to the Bristol Dirt Bike Show on a cold December morning to look at all the new model bikes.

So to be sitting here after testing the 2012 KTM MX range – before anyone else in the country has seen them – on a very warm May morning feels slightly weird to me.

But KTM has never been afraid to do its own thing.

Unlike the Enduro range, the 2012 motocrosser already sported the new frame, developed for the 350, and fender styling so at a glance there didn't seem to be too much difference apart from a great new graphic scheme.

That is until you look closer and realise that all the two-strokes have incorporated the new linkage suspension to match the four-strokes.

And talking of four-strokes – there's now an electric start fitted to the 250-F.
