One Trick trial

WITH the 2006 YMSA Championship decided back in October and following the success of its first non-championship winter trial of 2007, the YMSA club ran its Trick Bits' Trial on Sunday at Bonsall Quarry, near Matlock.
This was the first time that the YMSA had used the venue and clerk of the course Barry Burton made excellent use of the steep climbs and rocky terrain to test the riders to the full. Three laps of 12 sections faced A, B, Expert and Inters with the remaining classes tackling three laps of ten.
In Youth A class, at the end of the first lap, Ben Morphett held a healthy lead from local rider Jack Thompson. Ben piled on the pressure with a consistent second lap equalling his first lap score, whilst Jack lost 22.
At this stage the honours looked in the bag for Ben but on the final circuit, Jack posted his best lap of 12 marks lost and Ben's trial fell apart with a lap of 27. With the final points tally of 51 for both riders, Jack came out on top with just one more clean than rival Ben.
