Phoenix Tools Premier Motocross back in action at Landrake
By Dave Rich on 30th Mar 16
The Phoenix Tools Premier Motocross Championship kicks back into action this Sunday (April 3) at Landrake Moto Parc with the event doubling up as the opening round of the RC Motorhomes Open Two-stroke Championship.
There's been plenty of interest in the Gabriel Expert Open Championship with wildcard entries from Graeme Irwin, Kieran Banks, Todd and Ty Kellett and local Cornish kingpin Josh Gilbert who are out to get some track time before round two of the MX Nationals at Landrake the following weekend.
Luke Dean heads the standings after the opening round by seven points from Jamie Skuse with Kelvin Townsend just five points adrift of Skuse in third.
In the MD Racing Over 35 class it's Wayne Shimell who leads by three points ahead of Ben Harmon.
It's not as close in the Over 40 class where Stuart Rawlings leads Steve Elford by 12 points with Richard Green, Martyn Tucker and James Knatchbull just a few of the riders hoping to close the gap.
In the Over 50s David Ford was top scorer at round one and will be looking to extend his advantage.
The field is stacked with talent in the Tony Maunders Junior Championship including Harry Linton who took the overall at the opening round.
Just two points adrift is David Anthony with Tyron Cleaver three points behind in third but with every rider having to qualify for the main Junior championship races this could change dramatically.
Landrake will also host the opening round of the RC Motorhomes Open Two-stroke Championship which will include many riders from other classes including Jamie Skuse, James Kensington, Sam Gabriel and Jordan Carter.
Landrake Moto Parc will be signed off the A38 west of the Tamar Bridge with the first race at 10.30am. Postcode is PL12 5EP.
