Pre-65 line-up’s ready to rumble
By John Dickinson on 16th Dec 15

ENTRIES closed for the 2016 Pre-65 Scottish Two Day Trial on Friday, December 4 and a mighty 333 entries were tendered to event secretary Anne Gordon.
Needless to say a ballot was necessary and this was carried out in the first instance, on Sunday, December 6, for the 180 coveted spaces – and a further 25 were balloted for the reserve list.
Letters have now been sent out to all the entrants with the outcome of the ballot so if you entered and do not receive a letter in the next week, please contact the Secretary – info@pre65scottish.co.uk.
The committee is naturally very sorry to disappoint so many entrants but the popularity of this event means this cannot be avoided.
They say: "Please don't be disheartened if you didn't get in this time.
"Keep entering as there are measures in place to ensure you don't go more than three years without being successful – unless of course there are eligibility issues with your bike. Any comments made regarding your entry are noted in your letter so you have a chance to address them.”
The 2016 event will take place on Friday/ Saturday April 29/ 30, preceding the Scottish Six Days and as you can read on page two of this issue Guy Martin is not only the Special Guest but will also ride the trial.
Riders accepted for 2016 start with last year's winner, Yorkshire character James Bobble Noble, who will be back on his Ariel to face a fierce field of competitors including Dan Thorpe, who hopes to enjoy riding round with his dad, multi Scottish Pre-65 winner Dave.
Dan has won well over 100 National trials and the Scottish sections should suit.
Other top runners with an entry include Tony Calvert, Ben Butterworth, Rob Bowyer, Yrjo Vesterinen, Norman Shepherd, Davy Morewood, Stuart Blythe, Channel Islander Graham DuFeu and Scots Les Winthrop, Alan Crayk and Willie Dalling's grandsons Lewis and Liston Bell.
This is only the tip of the iceberg, there are many well-known characters and bikes in there including Clive Dopson and his rigid 500 Norton.
TMX will keep you right up to date on the Pre-65 Two Day all the way up to the event.
