No plans for this Saturday? Then head down to Manchester for some world class trials action with a difference!
Manchester's most famous shopping street - Deansgate - is set to welcome the third edition of the Red Bull City Trial this Saturday (October 4).
And Britain's very own 12-time FIM Trial World Champion Dougie Lampkin (Vertigo) plus current and 16-time FIM Trial World Champion Toni Bou (Repsol Honda) will come up against a truly international line-up.
The pair will have to fight off the threat of 2014 vice FIM Trial World Champion Adam Raga (Gas Gas), world No.4 Jeroni Fajardo (Beta), recently crowned British champion James Dabill (Beta), former national title holder Michael Brown (Gas Gas), 2013 UEM Trial European Champion Eddie Karlsson and ex-FIM Youth Trial World Champion Jack Sheppard if they are to lift the coveted prize.
The winner of this year's Red Bull City Trial will be decided over four rounds which take place from noon onwards as the elite group of riders race head-to-head over a new and formidable course designed and built by the legendary Martin Lampkin.
Totalling more than 200m, the course will include a section of canal complete with lock gates, a brick bridge, a pair of massive ‘Ms', two large footballs, a couple of massive see-saws and a huge tower of shipping containers.
While last year's winner Fajardo and City Trial debutant Bou will be among the favourites, home heroes Lampkin and Dabill should not be discounted after their podium finishes in the same city just over 12 months ago.
Once again the Red Bull City Trial will provide world class action and entertainment in an incredible setting and is a free admission event where you will have the opportunity to watch and meet Lampkin, Bou and co in the heart of Manchester.
"Even I am starting to feel a bit nervous," admitted Lampkin.
"If this edition is like the two previous Red Bull City Trial events then it is going to be a massive occasion.
"I have seen the overall course plan and most of the elements being built over the last few months .
"And I can confidently say that it should create some great racing and will really bring out the skill of the riders as there is plenty of speed but also some slow and technical parts as well. Having Toni [Bou] in town is really going to take it to the next level and is great for the event and the sport of trials.
"The Red Bull City Trial is once again going to expose the sport to the masses and showcase what is so special and different about what we can do on a bike.
"I can't wait for Saturday to give it my best shot."
