The iconic German circuit of Strassbessenbach hosted the sixth round of the FIM Sidecarcross world championship, where a strong performance from Frenchman Killian and Evan Prunier saw them eat into the series lead of Koen Hermans/ Ben van den Bogaart, who struggled to seventh place overall. Joining the French brothers on the podium were Latvian twins Daniels and Bruno Lielbardis and Dutch siblings Tim and Sem Leferink, perhaps proving that sidecarcross really is a family sport.

The Pruniers topped the podium with a 3-1 scorecard that outscored the Lielbardis’ 1-6 results and the Leferinks’ 2-5 finishes. Brits Brett Wilkinson/ Joe Millard tied for fourth with Tim Prummer/Jarno Steegmans but lost out on the better-second-race-tie-breaker after placing 6-3 compared to Prummer/ Steegman’s 8-2.

Michael Hodges and Ryan Henderson battled to two top-10 finishes

Michael Hodges/ Ryan Henderson ended the day ninth overall with 10-8 finishes, but there were no points for Stuart Brown/ Scott Grahame or the returning Dan Foden who teamed up with German passenger Noah Weinmann. Fellow Brits Jack Rogers/ Ryan Beavis unfortunately missed the cut in qualifying.

Just eight points separate the front two teams in the championship with Hermans/Van den Bogaart leading the way on 251 with the Prunier brothers on 243. Wilkinson/ Millard are sat a safe third on 231 with the Leferinks 36 points in arrears. Further back down the field, Hodges/ Henderson leapt past Brown/ Grahame to take over 12th place in the championship.

The GP of Latvia at the Lielbardis twins home track of Madona is next before second French and German GPs wrap up the series. With momentum on their side, the Prunier brothers are sure to keep pushing for the title but after leading all year it’s unlikely that Hermans/ Van den Bogaart will want to yield.
