Quad Stuff: Bevan to Yamaha
By Team TMX on 6th Jan 16
James Bevan became the first rider to officially sign up for the 2016 ACU British Quad Championship this week less than 12 hours after entries opened!
The 16-year-old from Haverfordwest will be looking to improve on his third overall in the 2015 British Under 21 Championship, and has splashed out on an ex-Stefan Murphy YFZ450 Yamaha to help his cause.
"The Yamahas seem to handle better in the sand than my KTM,” said Bevan.
"I've been trying to get in some practice sessions over Christmas and have been to Hilton Park and Oli Sansom's new track.
The plan is to keep one KTM for hard pack tracks while I move over.”
Bevan, who has picked up sponsorship from from ATVS Only, Rip N Roll, Ducksmart, Grahams Builders Merchants, BRP Imports and EDR, is also keen to make his Pont de Vaux debut this year after getting a taste for riding on the continent when he represented Great Britain at last year's Quad Cross of European Nations.
The six round British Championship features three sand tracks and three hard pack tracks this year.
The full series schedule is: April 3 Cusses Gorse, April 20 Desertmartin, May 29 Armthorpe, July 17 Pontrilas, July 24 Dean Moor, October 2 Canada Heights.
Riders wishing to contest the 2016 Championship can now get entry forms and regulations from series manager, Rob McDonnell, via email at quadrobmcd@gmail.com
