Qualifying: Sidecarcross GP 10 Stelpe – Latvia
By Tracy Thacker on 28th Jul 19
Very hot weather welcomed two qualifying races on the brilliant Stelpe GP track in Latvia.
In Group A we saw one of the best races in qualifying this season with action from start to finish.
Bax/ Stupelis took the holeshot holding on for a good win and first pick of the start line for the GP races. Compalati/ Chopin held second from Cuche/ Anthony.
Then came the British teams all four in the same race and lined up behind each other.
J Brown/ Millard took fourth from dad Brown/ Chamberlain, with Wilkinson/ Humphrey next and then Kinge/ Gray seventh.
Hermans/ Musset had problems in the start and tucked in behind the British teams, ready to challenge.
It was J Brown/ Millard who made the first move blasting past Cuche/ Anthony and chasing Compalati/ Chopin. They battle hard and soon tucked into second.
Hermans/ Musset were determined and they worked hard to fight forward where passing was difficult and all the chairs were on the other side. They tucked into third but J Brown/ Millard already had a good advantage and they couldnt close the gap.
Wilkinson/ Humphrey battled forward, taking a great fourth with Brown/ Chamberlain close behind. Compalati/ Chopin held fifth from Cuche/ Anthony with Kinge/ Gray in seventh all British teams go front row for the GP races tomorrow.
In Group B Dierckens/ Bax took the holeshot and there was no stopping them, blasting through to a great win.
Vanluchene/ Van Den Bogaart quickly settled into a safe second place and a front-row start in the GP races.
Keuben and stand-in passenger Pascal Leutenegger held third but behind the competition was strong. Veldman/ Janssens blasted into third closely followed by Varik/ Daiders who just couldnt find a way past despite a massive effort. Keuben/ Leutenegger held a great fifth from Santermans/ Beleckas.
So four British teams qualified for the GP races and all on the front row it will be interesting racing. And with Bax/ Stupelis working hard to hold the championship red plate, expect to see some good battles.
Keep watching our updates for the GP results.
