Readers Bike: Roger Brain’s Yamaha
By TMX Archives on 5th Nov 15
After many years of MX, enduro and sidecarcross Roger Brain has now steadied up and been supporting his son in trials.
As you can see from the photos Roger has been busy building a Kenichi Kuroyama replica Yamaha trials machine.
This has taken him quite a while due to his mechanic and minding duties at trials events most weekends.
The donor bike and engine were stripped to the last nut and bolt, the frame was then modified to accept stainless steel perforated mesh radiator cooling ducts to allow better airflow from the radiator.
The frame was then powder coated and new headstock bearing fitted.
The engine was rebuilt with a few undisclosed tweaks to aid performance.
The exhaust/silencer also underwent major surgery and modification to allow the Yamaha engine to breathe properly.
The list of all the parts that were either reworked or replaced is endless but in brief:
Modified powder coated frame
Engine rebuilt
Exhaust and silencer modified
All bearings including swinging arm replaced
Shock rebuilt
Forks rebuilt with new fork seals
Nissin front brake master cylinder with new braided brake line and Galfer front disc
Both brake calipers were rebuilt with braided lines and new Galfer pads fitted
All bolts and fasteners were replaced with stainless steel items
New tyres, sprockets and chain fitted
New Apico footrests fitted
A custom graphics set was designed and fitted courtesy of FactoryPink.com
Roger would like to thank Factory Pink for the design and supply of the custom graphics set and BVM Moto for the supply of the many new parts needed to complete this beauty.
