Red Bull Pro Nationals - Duns Preview
By TMX Archives on 19th Jul 12
Following the disappointing but unavoidable cancellation of the Red Bull Pro Nationals at Canada Heights we preview this coming weekend's RBPN at Duns.
Scottish fans will get to see local hero Bryan MacKenzie make his debut for the new Pendrich KTM team at round four of the Red Bull Pro Nationals this weekend at Duns Motocross.
The 27-year-old from Longniddry hasn't had the best of starts to the season but is full of optimism going into Duns following his team switch earlier this week and is fully fired-up to turn it on in the MX2 class in front of his home fans at the spectacular Borders track.
"After the news at the beginning of the week there was no way I was gonna allow my head to drop so close to my only home race of the season,” says Irn-Bry. "I've been working really hard on getting myself in a position to be able to be as competitive as possible at Duns this weekend and for the rest of the season - physically and in terms of support - and I'm pleased to say that I'm in pretty good stead now with the formation of the new Pendrich KTM team.
"There's no better place for us to launch the new set-up than at a national race only 30 miles away from where Pendrich Height Services and myself were born and bred and with a bit of luck and local support we hope to start this new chapter on a high.”
Of course, Bry will have his work cut out in a very competitive class for 250 four-strokes with series leader Steven Lenoir from France making his first visit to Duns and reigning champ Elliott Banks-Browne, overall winner at round one, taking a break from GPs to race.
There's also a strong candidate for a home win up in the MX1 class where series leader Stephen Sword who was born and bred in Lockerbie in the Borders will be hoping to extend his advantage in the face of stiff opposition from Dutchman Marc De Reuver and Irish ace Martin Barr.
Away from the track Events 22 will have jaw-dropping freestyle motocross displays on the Sunday and for younger visitors Sunday will also see guest appearances from children's TV favourites including Dora the Explorer and Bob the Builder in our Kidzone plus Zorbing and bungee trampolines.
Throw in a full programme of Red Bull Elite Youth Cup action plus two-stroke racing and mountain bike trials displays and there's something for everyone at Duns this weekend.
Duns Motocross is located three miles west of Duns on the Duns to Longformacus road. The postcode for the track is TD11 3NS.
Ticket prices start at £36 for families, £16 for adults and £4 for children and OAPs. For great deals on advance tickets go to www.redbullpronationals.com
