Rocketworld flying high

The MCFederation is branching out into the exciting worlds of BMX and FMX after tying up a deal with Rocketworld MX at Henstridge in Somerset.
As well as its selection of freestyle and BMX ramps plus a minibike track and foam pit the facility, fast becoming the UK's #1 base for extreme sports, also boasts a motocross track and Rocket World operator Chris Rose has ambitious plans for further expansion.
"At Rocketworld MX we are pumped to have joined the MCF,” says Chris. "Having this kind of back-up from such a fast-growing, forward-thinking organisation can only benefit us with our determination to create the best playground in the country.
"This will tie in with plans to run our own meetings next year as well as to keep improving the track and the whole facility. Our future plans are to build a supercross track and a minibike supercross track plus to keep improving the mountain bike and BMX jumps I've built. And hopefully in a couple of years some of it will be under a roof so the rain won't stop play.”
The deal will provide insurance cover for the BMX and FMX activities although for the first year riders will not have to pay MCF licence fees. A framework will also be put into place to provide structured freestyle instruction. MX riders will be required to hold a valid MCF licence or pay a £5 day licence fee.
"Having Rocketworld on board with the MCF is a great forward step for us,” says MCF General Manager Roy Barton. "Chris has been around the scene for some time and is completely on top of his game and runs a very tight ship when it comes to the motocross practice track down at Henstridge Airfield.
"The fusion between the two organisations also gives us the platform that we need to progress FMX in the UK and we will be working together to set up a structured grading and training programme. With the excellent new BMX course on site it will also give us the opportunity to get involved in an exciting new sport to the MCF.”
