Scott Trial - The magic of the Lamp

DOUGIE Lampkin was in amazing form on Saturday, as he totally destroyed his rivals to win the 2007 Scott Trial setting Standard Time 4 hrs 53 mins 30 seconds and a miserly score of just 20 on observation through 76 tough sections.
Arch-rival Graham Jarvis kept Doug honest on time, taking just five minutes longer to complete the course, in a battle that enthralled the massive crowd, but the seven-time Scott winner couldn't live with Lampkin on observation and eventually lost almost double Doug's marks, the winning margin being 20 against 39. James Dabill matched last year's third place with a quick ride, just 15 minutes slower than Lampkin but he was disappointed with 52 on observation which placed him a long way behind Jarvis in a four-stroke one-two-three.
It was a beautiful sunny day and the biggest crowd for many years turned out to watch another Lampkin v Jarvis battle in a re-run of last year's epic when Doug returned after a 12-year break to take the win as Graham suffered exclusion for missing a section. The big two didn't disappoint and although Doug set the pace right from the start the battle was an enthralling one.
