Scottish Six Days Trial: SSDT update - day six
By John Dickinson on 10th May 15
Dougie Lampkin stormed to a dream ninth win in the Scottish Six Days Trial with a final day score of just one mark, dropped on Ben Nevis, to give the Vertigo factory its much hoped-for debut victory.
But with Doug 11 marks ahead on 19 for the week it couldn't have been closer for second place with a tie-break needed to separate Gas Gas teamsters Gary Macdonald and Sam Haslam with GaryMac getting the verdict and of course the Best Scot Award. Gary, Sam and Alexz Wigg teamed together to give Gas Gas the Manufacturers Award.
Battle of the week though was betwen Jack Price and Billy Bolt on Beta and Gas Gas respectively and the two teenagers, with vastly contrasting styles were never more than a mark or two apart. In the end 'Rev-it' Bolt just pipped the smoother riding Price - despite a five mark penalty on Saturday when the Ossa refused to start within the minute allowance in parc ferme - and then annoyingly chimed-in next kick!
To girl, as expected, was Emma Bristow in a superb 45th overall.
There were 221 official finishers all of whome thoroughly enjoyed the final day which was played-out in brilliant sunshine - setting them up nicely for another go next year!
