Tommy Searle, currently running third of the MX2 World Championship and Kawasaki Team CLS are proud to confirm that they just reached agreement for...
Twice runner-up in the FIM MX2 World Championship, Tommy Searle returned to the series this year with the official Kawasaki MX2 GP team after two seasons racing in America. He has proved since the first GP that he is one of the main contenders of the series, and has won the French Grand Prix and two motos to hold down a strong third place in the points as the series approaches the halfway stage. After two tough seasons in the US due to a number of injuries, the young British rider, who just turned 22, is now back to his best level and is getting stronger with every race aboard his KX250F.
Tommy and Team CLS have now reached a one year deal and a priority option for 2013, and both will now be able to focus all of their attention on racing. 2012 will be Tommy's final season in the MX2 class due to the age limitation ruling, and his teammate will again be Max Anstie, the English teenager who is currently enjoying a successful rookie GP season and will have even higher goals next season.
Tommy Searle: "I'm really happy to have signed another year with the CLS Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team. I believe in the team and I really appreciate everything they have done for me. I am already looking forward to an even more successful season next year. The bike is great and the team never stop improving it even more; this has impressed me a lot and I'm now excited to get the second half of this year under way... "
Jean Jacques Luisetti: "I'm very happy to continue our challenge next season with Tommy and Max. Everyone knows that Tommy is one of the leading riders in MX2, and I am proud of his decision to stay in our team even though he had several offers from other teams. He will be totally focused on his challenge to become MX2 World Champion, and will not race any supercross in the US next year to ensure that he will be ready for the opening GP of 2012. Our common goal with Mitch Payton and Kawasaki is to win the MX2 title, and we intend to improve our results even more in our third year with Pro Circuit. Once more I would like to thank all our partners, including of course Monster Energy, Kawasaki and Pro Circuit. Next year we'll line up two MX2 riders with Tommy and Max, who has also reached his goal this season, and we'll have one MX1 rider, whose identity will be revealed later.”
Steve Guttridge: "Having been brought through his youth career in the UK Team Green squad and started his MXGP career with Kawasaki, it was so cool that Tommy returned from the US to compete in the GPs with us again this season and to race against the best riders in the World right now ! He is already regularly winning races on the CLS Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki. He knows he is happy and you can see it in his riding. All the team's closest partners are working so well together to create such a competitive team environment, so his choice to remain in Europe with us for another year in the MX2 class means that Tommy knows that he has the best overall package in the KX250F in order to collect that prestigious title for Kawasaki either this year or next!"
