Shaun Simpson on the mend

After an overnight stay in hospital last Sunday night, following his first race crash at the Hawkstone Park International, factory Red Bull KTM rider Shaun Simpson was discharged on Monday morning with bruising to his face and hip, plus a deep cut to his ring finger on his left hand.
On Monday afternoon Shaun visited hand specialist Doctor Campbell at a privateclinic in Leeds, Yorkshire for a further opinion regarding his damaged digit. Inorder to investigate the full extent of the injury to his finger, the young Scotunder went a minor procedure without the need for any kind of anaesthetic onTuesday morning, when the wound was thoroughly cleaned before being closed by aseries of stitches.
Although the injury will prevent Simpson from ridingin the short term, the initial prognosis is good, with Shaun expected to resumefull physical training with immediate effect and to be back on a bike within thenext seven to ten days. In the coming days Simpson, who will celebrate histwenty second birthday this coming Saturday, will decide his programme ahead ofthe opening Grand Prix in Bulgaria on 4th April. With his sole aim to be in thebest possible shape for this opening encounter proper.
