Sher-GO!

IT is easy to say that all trials bikes are the same these days but the truth is they arent! The Sherco family is definitely a bit different, as in 2010 the Barcelona-based firm moved the fuel tank rearwards, alongside the exhaust, and the air filter up and forwards.
250
THE new 250 was next on test and as you would expect it features very similar components to the 125.
And I'm pleased to say that the machine is fitted with the same new Tech forks and the new shocker. This once again, like the 125, without a doubt transforms the bike for the Clubmen who the 250 is aimed at.
After warming the machine up it revved nice and cleanly and ticked over just right.
I tried various different sections and with the machine feeling a lot more familiar to me as it had a bit more power to the 125, I could try more demanding sections.
The power on the 250 is so smooth its unbelievable. You can almost ride this bike without the clutch – which is not a feature on most modern bikes.
It just goes wherever it is pointed and it's all down to the rider to steer it. There are no steps in the power band, no sudden surge, just smooth easily-used power, from tickover to full revs.
I normally ride everything in second gear but I actually found myself riding everything in first gear on this bike, as it just felt right and seemed to do everything it was told to do.
After trying a few steps in various gears I found that it would go up most things in any of the first three gears in the box.
With a five-speed box in all models fourth is a track/ moorland gear and fifth is your cog for the road.
If trials is your hobby and you just want a bike that is so easy to ride that it flatters your skills you really need to try this bike.
The engine is ultra-smooth throughout and is definitely suited for Club and Over 40 riders. This however does not mean it lacks the oomph for Experts and some will definitely love the power delivery.
Sherco have worked very hard on making the 250 a bike suitable for virtually everyone and it is very difficult to find anything to criticise.
It's definitely a match for any of the other 250s out there and Sherco are back on the map with this one.
