Showtime
By TMX Archives on 25th Oct 13
The Dirt Bike Show is, of course, all-embracing and for many visitors presents the first opportunity to see or try-on the very latest kit, gear, parts and accessories for both rider and machine, from some of the biggest companies in the world.
In retail Hall One you'll be spoilt for choice with a mind-boggling selection of trick bits and bargains covering head-to-foot, wheel-to-wheel, bench-to-van, and everything in between.
Classics are back
Hall Three is the place to head for a trip down memory lane.
Now known as the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE), the British-born International Six Days Trial (ISDT) was first held in August 1913, when 160 riders set off from the centre of Carlisle to tackle a challenging 1,000-mile route.
To celebrate the ISDT's centenary, an anniversary get-together will be held on the Friday of the Show and such is the interest in this sector of the sport that a healthy showing of participants is anticipated.
One notable attendee is Greeves rider Mary Driver, who competed in a number of ISDTs in the 1960s and impressed many when she won a bronze medal in 1963.
On the machine front will be a display of bikes having a long association with the ISDE, including a brace of Jawas that competed in the 1975 event.
The weekend-only ‘Evoshock' Moto Jumble will be housed in Hall Five. It will be open from 10.30am to 5pm on Saturday, November 2, and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sunday, November 3.
This will be accessed via a tunnel from the Twinshock/Evo section and could well be the off-road bargain hunter's Aladdin's cave.
Check it out if you are looking for a classic bargain.
Centre Stage
The traditional main hall two stage will, for the first time, be complemented by an additional stage in hall three.
The Main stage, compered by TV commentator, journalist and photographer Jack Burnicle, is where the many racing stars and personalities that make the Show a must-do event get interviewed, where various championship presentations take place,
where the Putoline TMX/DBR PS3 challenge and Michelin tyre endurance test will be contested and where you can get a taste of the Extreme MTB Show.
The Hall Three stage, hosted by former supersport champion and current British FlatTrack trainer Steve Plater, will have seating and refreshment facilities and will be a platform for a series of interesting talks and demonstrations about a range of topical subjects including tyre technology, suspension set-up and training tips for race fitness.
Organisations such as the ACU, AMCA, BSMA, Events 22, TRF and Offroad Motorsport UK, (formerly known as YSMA), will give an overview of what they do and, as this is the hall for trials, enduro, adventure and classics, there will be interviews with personalities from those sectors of the off-road scene.
You can also witness some Oset electric trials bike live displays.
We'll see you there
The TMX team will be on duty throughout the four full-on glorious Show days.
We will be located alongside our sister publication Dirt Bike Rider, directly opposite the main stage and hope you will drop by to say hello.
You may be pushed for time though as, with so much on the go in terms of latest machinery and kit to inspect, live shows, have-a-go activities, goodies and autographs to collect,
plenty of comfortable resting places and coffee stops, plus the reassurance that comes from it being an alcohol-free Show, the International Dirt Bike Show is pretty much THE dirt-biking family hub.
