Simpson out for some fun at Lille Supercross

Still unwilling to publicly talk about his 2016 plans until the end of November, it was little secret that Shaun Simpson was enjoying a final outing for his current Hitachi Revo KTM team at Lille.

Simpson had been practising for his SX re-introduction on a home-built track in Scotland but poor weather had disrupted part of the programme.
He improved to the point where he was the fourth fastest rider in Superpole on Sunday and was a decent fourth in the Semi Final the same day.
Adopting Andrew Short's custom of firing the 450SX-F out of the gate in third gear, the Scot was a strong starter throughout the meeting, steady in the whoops and looked as though with more preparation time he could have figured in the results.
"A lot of people said that this wasn't the right thing for me to do but I took the plunge and I would come and do it again – I've really had a good time,” he said.
"A massive thanks to everyone who made it happen, my team Hitachi Construction Machinery Revo KTM and KTM for giving me the tools to come and do my last race of 2015.
"It was nice to come and be part of the show even if we knew we were not going to battle with the top Americans.
"I think a start and consistent run can get it done here and Pourcel followed me in the heat race but won the Main Event! He's one of the riders that rarely looks out of control and that's how I feel I ride also.
"It was nice to come and experience it. It's easy to sit at home and think , ‘I don't do supercross'.
"But I like riding my bike and why not try and improve my skill set by coming here?
"It is a tremendous opportunity to do something a bit new. We go home with the smiles we were looking for.”
