Six of the best

At the end of a challenging and incident filled week, Britain's World Junior Trophy team of Jack Rowlands, Alex Rockwell, Danny McCanney and Jonny Walker claimed a superb third place result, finishing behind France and Sweden in what was the team's first ever ISDE.
With Jonny Walker finishing in an impressive fourth overall in the Enduro 3 class and Alex Rockwell placing 13th in Enduro 2, for the other half of the squad it proved to be a demanding and frustrating event.
Disappointingly Jack Rowland was forced to retire from the event on day three with mechanical troubles while for Danny McCanney, seemingly not one day passed without the Manxman having some kind of drama.
On the very first day it looked like the British Junior team might struggle to deliver the results all knew they were capable of as Gas Gas mounted E3 class rider McCanney drowned his bike when he dived off a forest bridge and into a pond.
Thankfully, Danny was able to get his bike going again despite losing time, but came close to exiting the event once again on day four. Damaging a radiator and riding much of the day with little coolant in his engine, Danny was forced to switch to survival mode. Limping his way through the special tests, as he tried to keep his bike as cool as possible, he finished the day before completing day five with damaged cylinder head ‘0' rings.
Unable to attack any of the special tests, Danny nevertheless made it to the end of the event and played an important role in ensuring the British junior team claimed their top three finish.
Enduro 2 class rider Alex Rockwell endured a largely problem-free week. Enjoying the event like all the British Junior team riders, 'Rocky' got his head down and got on with the job in hand. With only routine maintenance to take care of he was able to attack each day and arrived at the final motocross more than happy with his week's work.
Getting a great jump out of the gate in the main Enduro 2 class motocross race on Saturday, 'Rocky' came agonisingly close to taking the holeshot only to lose his front wheel going into the first turn before getting buried beneath more than half a dozen bikes. He remounted to charge his way back through the pack and finished with a well-deserved Gold medal.
For Jonny Walker, the 86th ISDE also went extremely well with the KTM rider finishing a strong fourth in the E3 class.
Taking a few days to settle into the event, once Jonny found his feet he revelled in the sandy conditions.
