Motocross

WHEN the British Outdoor Supercross Championship, sanctioned by the ACU, was announced there was a good deal of discussion within the off-road industry as to the viability of an outdoor series in the late autumn/ early winter. But, promoters Keith and Jonathan Chapman put their money where their mouths are and built a 500-metre supercross track in the middle of their speedway stadium at Kings Lynn, and last Saturday, the gate dropped for the first race at the Norfolk Arena, King's Lynn to herald round one of the Maxxis British Outdoor Youth Supercross Championship.
Despite a heavy downpour on Friday night, and another two-hour drenching at Saturday lunchtime, the clay based track was in superb condition for the opening encounter of the modified race programme.
The Automatic 50cc competitors were first to race under the Arena floodlights and what they lacked in
size they more than made up for in guts and determination.
George Turner proving the perfect example as he came from an opening lap crash in race two to grab second at the flag to add to his first race win and claim overall victory in the class.
One of only two riders to go through the evening unbeaten was Robert Davidson who powered his KTM to gate to flag victories in the Junior 65cc class.
