SSDT takes on new land
By Team TMX on 25th Apr 14
The 270-strong rider entry for this years Scottish Six Day Trial (May 5-10) will be treated to some brand new sectionsafter the organising Edinburgh and District MC secured some previously unused areasof land.
There is a long list of constraints in place over these new areas and the club is asking spectators to respect all restrictions which will be clearly marked. Failure to do this could have serious negative effects on the future of the event.
Anyway, here's a day-by-day breakdown of the 2014 route...
Monday
Starting as usual with a trip to Leanachan under the viewing platform, the riders then move on to Bradileig before hitting Carn Dearg and Glas Bheinn.
A run over the Blackwater Dam road brings the field to Coire Mhorair followed by Cnoc a Linnhe, Garbh Beinn and Cameron Hill with its recently added top sub. The day concludes at Lagnaha.
Tuesday
The trial reverts back to the traditional route starting at Laggan Locks then over to Forest Gate.
A run up to Jenkins Park is followed by a nostalgic return to Achlain. Riders must follow the flags along the top side of the pylon line and around the pylon at the end of
the route.
Meall Damh is next followed by Craig Nan Gobhar and Ceannacroc Forest. New fencing here has made it necessary for a short amount of road work. Riders must follow the flags. Creag Lundie is followed by a long haul down to Allt Coire an Seilich.
A run over to Glen Tarsuinn and then Loch Arkaig's new subs is rounded off with a return to the newly-designed Witches Burn.
Wednesday
Callart Falls followed by Callart. Then Upper Mamore before a single at School Falls. Grey Mares Tail rounds off the Kinlochleven part of the day.
The trial then heads to the new Pap of Glencoe Group followed by Clachaig.
The next group at Eas a Bhodaich is only accessible to spectators on foot or cycle. Glen Stockdale in Appin is a next. Glenmuckrach are the last new subs before Lagnaha.

A road trip takes the field on to Ruighe Mhor and Coire Leacach before a couple of new subs in Fasfern 1 and Fasfern 2. It's then to Annat before the moor crossing to Trotters Burn.
Friday

Saturday
The last day remains mainly unchanged, kicking off with Sleubaich followed by Upper and Lower Mamore. Pipeline is next before the picturesque Loch Chiarain entices the riders over the Chiarain path to the Gorge and up the Lairige. As a climax to the week Glen Nevis awaits its loyal subjects from Achintee to Ben Nevis's nemesis, then on to Nevis Forest before ending in Fort William's Town Hall Brae.
