SSDT update - Day two

Motocross

Sam Haslam led the 2015 Scottish Six Days Trial by five marks on Wednesday morning following a tough Tuesday route ridden in wet conditions and when the results were finally relased at 1.30am on Wednesday morning they showed that just a handful of riders had no marks to add on time - including Haslam - and organisers were steeling themselves for a blizzard of protests!

The majority of riders lower down the order amassed a cricket score on time.

Trial favourites Dougie Lampkin and James Dabill were both affected, Doug had eight marks to add to six on observation, after a five in the top sub at Creag Lundie, for a daily total of 14 and15 in total for seventh place overall while Dabill was right out of contention with a mighty 33 time score which ruined his observation tally of just one. The Dibsta languishes in 25th place as things stand this morning on a total of 34. And he is not happy.

One man with no problems is Gas Gas UK rider Haslam who stands alone at the top with a five mark cushion over local ace Gary Macdonald and ever-present Ben Hemingway who are on a total of nine while joint overnight leaders James Fry and Joe Baker ended the day in fourth and 19th as Joe racked-up a mighty 26 on time. And Gmac's score could yet come down as an error in the results calculation could result in three marks coming off. Could this be the year for a Scottish win by a Scottish rider?
Meanwhile, Thomas Hick had a great day with zero time and 13 observation to shoot up to ninth from 22nd.

As the majority of riders didn't get their scores until this morning, due to the results team battling manfully into the small hours, there will be plenty said today about the time limit which, going off the results alone, appears to have been estremely tight at best. Those who kept to time were in the main old hands who really know the score, like Adam Norris who used all his years of SSDT knowledge to just scrape in with seconds to spare after not looking at many sections and pushing on all day.

But there's little doubt that the vast majority of contenders will be pushing for time to be scrapped based on events - and the results don't lie.

We'll catch-up with it all tomorrow...
