The most successful British driver in the history of sidecarcross is looking for that elusive world title

Stuart Brown, the most successful British driver in the history of sidecarcross, is this season going for his 16th domestic title in 17 years and also aiming to lift an elusive world title.
The 45-year-old joiner from Macclesfield almost hung up his boots at the end of 2016 when passenger Josh Chamberlain announced his retirement. Instead, he teamed up with Joe Millard and went on to win his 15th British championship and finish fourth in the world.
For 2018 hes moving to a four-stroke-powered outfit as he bids to rewrite the record books yet again.
Were making a switch to a four-stroke this year to help keep things fresh and motivate me after spending almost all my career on a two-stroke, he said.
Now weve gone onto an AMS with a tuned engine from Holland. We had no problems whatsoever with the two-stroke Zabel engine, I literally just fancied a change. Were doing the British and the world championships again. Its going to be another busy year.

With the competition both home and abroad heating up, Stuart knows hell have to be at his best.
Last year was a good, consistent season but we didnt really get the podiums we wanted in the world championship, he added. Thats how it goes there are some very good competitors. Its getting a lot more professional and theres a lot of money flying about but were only working lads doing what we can.
There are some good riders in the British who are pushing us all the way so were not having it easy. If the package is right I think I could still win a world title thats another reason why weve changed machines, to try and find something new that will hopefully improve me.
Racing is a family affair for Stuart. His dad is his mechanic and his 24-year-old son, Jake, contested his debut British championship sidecarcross season in 2017 with Zac Snell in the chair and plans to step it up and race selected GPs this season.
Stuart acknowledges the ongoing support he receives from long-term backers Cradley Kawasaki and Pro Seal but is always looking for additional sponsors. Contact him on 07880 686449 if you can help him out.
