The first round of the ACU Express Insurance British Youth Motocross Championship at Mildenhall was hugely successful for the ACU Academy competitors.

With the first round now under their belts Academy riders are currently leading three classes in the highly competitive Championship.

Youngster Ben Watson obliterated the competition in the PAR Homes 85cc Small Wheel Championship on his Pro Circuit PAR Honda taking five wins from five starts.

New Academy rider, Ryan Houghton, finished the day at the top of the table with four podium finishes including one race win. He now holds a slender lead of one point on his Danger UK KTM in the 85cc Big Wheel class over Nathan Watson.

Josh Waterman battled hard all day on his Danger UK KTM, his sterling efforts in improving his fitness levels over the winter stood him in good stead and he now heads the table by 19 points over Josh Spinks.

Team green Kawasaki rider Connor Walkley had a mixed day showing a good turn of speed netting him third in race one however machine problems relegated him to ninth in the overall standings.

Team Coach Mark Hucklebridge was very pleased with the performance of the riders. He said: "It is good for the riders to be able to reap the rewards for the tremendous effort that they have put in during the Academy training programme over the winter."
