The Red Bull KTM dynamic duo of Ryan Dungey and Marvin Musquin doubled up again on Saturday night as the AMA SX series landed in St Louis for round 13.

Dungey took his sixth 450SX win of the season with a commanding performance in the Edward Jones Dome while Musquin grabbed his fifth 250SX East victory of the campaign.

With four rounds to go Dungey now leads Eli Tomac (Geico Honda) by 80 points and could tie-up his second title in Texas on April 11. Musquin's just got one round left – in New Jersey on April 25 – and is 20 points clear of defending champ Justin Bogle (Geico Honda).

Andrew Short (KTM) made his usual fast start in the 450cc Main Event but just as Dungey slipped through into the lead Shorty hit the eject button. With Trey Canard (Team Honda HRC) injured the weekend before in Detroit, Dungey's only serious title rival is Tomac but he struggled out of the gate and had to make a succession of hard passes.

Weston Peick (Yamaha) held an initial second as Tomac was delayed by Jason Anderson (Husqvarna) as the pair fought over third. At half-distance Anderson looked to have won the race within a race and had moved into second but as Peick faded back Tomac moved up a gear and with six to go he demoted Anderson.

Despite laying down some of the fastest laps of the race, Tomac was unable to close down Dungey who picked up his 20th career win, tying Jeff Ward on the all-time SX winners list.

"I really wanted to get a start tonight,” said Dungey. "That was my key. Just put it down on the track best as I could.”

Jeremy Martin (Star Racing Yamaha) holeshot the 250cc Main Event but Musquin snatched the lead in the second turn. Martin took the fight to the Frenchman but his challenge only lasted a couple of laps before the two-time world MX2 champion began to clear off into the distance.

Bogle got squeezed out off the start and could only come through to fourth as Martin and Joey Savatgy (Kawasaki) followed Musquin home.

"I got a decent start and pushed really hard,” said Musquin. "I was second and I jumped on the inside of the next turn to pass Jeremy.”
