Superstars set to shine

YEADON Guiseley DMC do not have an ACU British Championship round in 2015. But the enthusiastic Yorkshire club arent going to miss out on running a prestigious event this year as they plan to run an exciting all-new Superstars trial, similar to the annual and eagerly anticipated Seymours Arena event run by the North Berks club.
The YG event will be known as the Mackenzie Trophy Superstars Trial and it will run at Light Bank, Addingham moorside, Silsden (the BTC venue) over the weekend of June 20/21.
The experienced Danny Cockshott – who normally looks after the British Championship sections at the venue – and the multi-talented Ben Hemingway will act as clerks of course.
Just as when they stage the BTC the event will feature 12 sections and three laps.
The sections will be a mix of awesome natural rock sections set on the famous steep hillside and a couple of spectacular spectator pleasing man made hazards.
Out on the hillside there will be some old favourites such as The Cliff and the huge chasm over monster rocks known as Danny's Leap of Faith.
It is anticipated that all the top UK riders will participate which means hopefully James Dabill on the Vertigo and Gas Gas aces Michael Brown and Alexz Wigg.
As the event follows the weekend after the British round of the World Trials Championship there's the chance that some Continental stars may stay over to practice and then take in the Superstars. There will be good prize money up for grabs so there's a powerful incentive.
Practice starts at 1.30pm on the Saturday with a special timed section included which will be used to determine Sunday start positions. There will be prize money for the top four in each of two classes, Superstars and Experts.
For Saturday night there will be a camping area with live music and a bar on site throughout the weekend.
The club is looking for sponsorship for this event and there will also be room for trade stands. Your contact is Danny on 07785-112677.
Well done to the club for having a go at something different, the timing is right and here's hoping it is a spectacular success.
