American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) congratulated Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing's Ryan Dungey for winning the 2009 AMA Supercross Lites West Coast Championship with a commemorative banner at Saturday's final round of AMA Supercross at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.

The banner celebrated Dungey's first Pro Championship and was signed by ASMC employees, race team members, sponsors, family and friends. The 2009 AMA Supercross LItes season saw Dungey clinch the title at the final round in Salt Lake City, Utah. Prior to that, Dungey won four races and picked up an additional three podium finishes.

"Thanks so much to Suzuki for putting together this banner for me because we couldn't have done it without the support from everyone at Suzuki and the RM-Z250. Winning the 2009 Supercross Lites championship was a long time in the making. The past two years have been tough. This whole year, it was a fight. And in the middle of it, we had that eight-week break to just sit and chill out and think about it. In the end, I'm just happy that we've got the number-one plate. We worked hard for it and the whole Rockstar Makita Suzuki team and everyone at Suzuki stuck by me and had faith in me. I feel like we gave it our all at every race and at every round. In the end, we did it with commitment and passion and love and faith. And it all came together in the end."

Dungey's accomplishment would not have been possible without the Rockstar Makita Suzuki RMZ250. This championship is Suzuki's first AMA Supercross Lites title with the 250cc four-stroke motocross bike. Indeed, the Suzuki RM-Z250 leads the way in competition, thanks to its powerful, liquid-cooled, four-stroke engine and ultra-precise, twin-spar aluminium frame. The Suzuki RM-Z250 was designed to provide championship-winning performance right off the showroom floor.
