Motocross Take A Look

Long standing Red Bull athlete Dougie Lampkin will break cover this weekend aboard his new Eurotek Hope KTM as he debuts the orange machine at the Tough One extreme enduro

The event takes place at the World famous Hawkstone Park venue near Shrewsbury this coming Saturday. Lampkin will ride the Austrian enduro brand for the Ripon based KTM specialist dealer Eurotek for 2014 whilst extending his long association with Hope Technology.

As in more recent seasons, the 12-times FIM Trial World Champion will once again compete in a programme of selected international extreme enduro events throughout the year. This will start this weekend as Dougie returns to the Tough One after a several year.

Dougie's calander will include the Red Bull Erzberg Rodeo in June, and the Extreme de Lagares in Portugal later in the year, plus other competitions yet to be confirmed.

The Tough One will mark Dougie's first competitive outing in 2014, with the trial legend having recently completed an intense schedule of promotional activities, testing duties and other special projects during the first three months of this year.

With one eye firmly fixed on trying to win an eighth Scottish Six Days Trial (SSDT) early next month, Lampkin has only been able to enjoy limited time on board his Eurotek prepared KTM 300 EXC machine, but is ready for the challenge that lies ahead this weekend.

As Dougie explained. "First of all I would like to thank Eurotek, Hope and KTM for putting this deal together and for providing me a great bike to get the job done. Both in terms of engine and suspension I have not ridden a better enduro bike. Eurotek first helped me out when I started to compete in World trials, so it is nice to have done the full circle. To say the last few weeks have been hectic would be an under statement, especially with trying to get some miles under my belt on the enduro bike whilst still practicing for the SSDT."

Dougie added. "I am fully aware just how tough it is going to be on Saturday, as the deep sand and steep hills at Hawkstone Park are totally unforgiving and are going to make it a very different event to when it used to be in the quarry. The more technical it is the better it should suit me and my trials background. Whilst I have never actually won the event in the past I have had some strong results at previous Tough One events, plus I have some good memories of Hawkstone Park from when the Trial GPs were held there."

"My fellow Red Bull athletes Jonny Walker and David Knight, along with Graham Jarvis must be the favourites for the win, but I will be doing my best to get up there and amongst them and will hopefully be able to show a few of those younger lads that there is still a little bit of life in the old dog yet." Laughed Lampkin.
