Take a look: Jimmy Aird's Cheney BSA
By Team TMX on 24th Aug 16
Jimmy Aird, Scott Leathers proprietor and scrambles legend, who has raced a shiny CCM in Classic events for some seasons now, turned up at Sundays Cumbria Classic Nostalgia Scramble armed with a brand new bike that turned more than a few heads.
The beautifully prepped Pre-65 eligible machine sports a Cheney replica frame into which has been slotted a Dave Rowlandson built 500 unit BSA engine - running on methanol, so it shouldn't be short of horse power!
Front suspension is Ceriani, which was fitted to all the quick bikes back in the day while the rear shocks are de Reuver.
After just three laps practise - restricted due to sheer number of entries - Jimmy enjoyed mixed luck on the machine's debut day finishing strongly in the opening race, retiring from the second with a technical problem and was then nudged off in the first corner of his final outing.
He remounted to finish with the four-stroke single bellowing away in anger...
