Team talk!

Things are going smoothly for HRFE - now there's just the not-so-little matter of the ISDE WELL I'M back again and I'm sure dbr's month must be shorter than mine as it always seems like it's time for the column. It's been back to business for the team and the boys have been riding pretty well. Whibs has finally got back to racing and seems to be going good on the CRF450. Young Simon has been on top of his game and after we let him loose on a CRF250X he seems to be going pretty fast as well. As for the results, well the boys have been competing in the recent six and 12-hour events and coming away with some prize money as well as trophies! So with the boys going well what have I been up to? Well riding, riding and more riding. I finished second overall in the BEC and won my class and then shifted my focus to preparing for the ISDE. As most people are aware I'll be racing a Honda CRF-X in the six-days so I've been putting in plenty of saddle time. And by letting the boys do the races, it gave me a few weekends off which I was more than ready for. On the team and riders front things have been busy as I'm trying to finalise deals for '05 and beyond. I can say that I'll probably be sticking with nearly all my sponsors from this year as everyone has been really pleased with what we've done. We've gained a few sponsors as well and will release details in the near future. On the rider front I've been really pleased with them and have agreed to keep Simon Wakely on board. I will make a decision after the six-days as to which class I will be competing in and should know who the second rider will be real soon. It's been hard this year running the team but I've really enjoyed the challenge and feel it's made me more determined than ever to ride and win at every given chance. Away from the team front and some news on events. There's going to be another indoor enduro in Las Vegas on November 27 as well as the one in Barcelona. I've also agreed to race at the Weston beach race after a 10-year absence. I think this year is going to be really special as having Stefan Everts and Travis Pastrana can only be good for the public and also for the other riders. I've also agreed to ride the live arena at the Telford Dirt Bike Expo. I'm currently getting ready for the final Fast Eddy race at Hawkstone Park and I'll be trying hard to win and claim a championship. I'm also pretty determined to try and make the hillclimb as last year it remained unconquered and not even myself or Knighter could make it to the top. After the race I'll be off to the six-days where I hope to bring some good news in next month's column. That's pretty much all for this month other than I'd just like to thank Euan McConnell for his efforts in raising money for us for the six-days and the ACU for funding the teams. Good luck to us all at the ISDE as I'm sure we'll need a bit! Bye for now. Fast Eddy
