Terry Cups Trial

REDDITCH MCC staged its annual Terry Cups Christmas Pudding Trial, penultimate round of the Midland Centre trials championship, on Sunday, starting from Davis's Yard.
Rain and wind greeted the 65 riders for the 9.30am start and Buster Reagan, on his Repsol Beta, showed he is a force to be reckoned with, taking a well deserved victory and with it the Midland Centre Trials Championship, although he had a very lucky escape at Pikes Poll when he stalled his Repsol Beta in section three and was lucky to re-start whilst still moving forward.
John Cowley showed the young guns a thing or two in the mud with a steady second place, even with a silly five, by John's standard, on section four on the ‘tarmac lumps' in Davis's Yard. Ben Sprigg, forsaking his motocross bike, took third just in front of previous Midland Centre champ Mark Hicken, having his last ride before his impending operation for an elbow injury.
Steve Harris, the local Redditch rider, had a steady ride with just a lapse of concentration in the last group, parting with ten, giving him a total of 36 for the day. The Over 40 class was always going to be a close-run affair with Clive Charlton, Phil Ducker and Ali Haigh batting for the ‘old codgers' award.
