The great Fox' hunt

THE BSMA Finals 2009 were hosted by Cotswold MC at the perfectly prepared Foxhill Moto Parc supported by the BSMA Management team. Competition throughout all groups was brilliant as you would expect at this event. First away was the Open Class, with Sebastian Osborne giving an exhibition on the big hills more suited to Alpine ski-jumping. He gained the first maximum of the weekend. Marc Gunter added to the excitement but a big off in race two spoiled his chances. He remounted to salvage some points but on borrowed machinery he was never able to challenge the winner.
Dexter Marks was always on the pace, runner-up three times he finished a clear second with Nigel Kibble a confident third ahead of Tom Bennett, Marc Gunter and Ashley Watt.
The AMX competition was red hot with more riders chasing the top positions. Adam Cook worked hard in every race but once in front looked unstoppable. Cook had three brilliant wins and then disaster in race four when leading at halfway he suffered a rear wheel puncture which seemed to have ruined his chance, scoring just 25 points with the win going to Darren Banwell. He bounced back to take
the final moto in fine style after passing Banwell.
It was now left to Ricky Lethaby who was the only person who could take the title from Cook after he overhauled Banwell. His chances were spoilt by James Cole who saved his best race till last with a great second position.
This left Cook and Lethaby equal on points with the verdict going to Cook, just behind in third was Darren Banwell. Craig Badman, James Cole and Richard Williams completed the top six. Mark Young was as usual impressive but a last position in heat five relegated him to seventh overall.
