THE fifth round of the 2010 ACU Events sponsored British Solo Trials Championship saw title chasers back in South Wales for the second time this year, on this occasion for the St David's Trial.
After many years at Aberdulais the trial had been moved to just outside of Ammanford and a very different venue consisting mainly of a rocky valley with some very steep banks thrown in for good measure.
The Neath Club were the organisers and it looked as if they had done plenty of work to open up the area. After Saturday practice some of the Expert routes were changed but the Championship subs stayed virtually identical for trial day.
It was certainly an exciting day for the Championship riders. Michael Brown was giving reigning champ James Dabill a real run for his money until his Sherco began to mysteriously cut-out on the last lap - with Browny in the lead. And Shaun Morris also struck trouble which pushed the Lancastrian down to ninth just as he was hitting form. Meanwhile, Alexz Wigg just got better and better and a cracking final lap saw Wiggy keep winner Dabill – who maintained his 100% winning run – totally honest.
