Three's the magic number

The UKs top two GP runners dominated round three of the Maxxis ACU British Motocross Championship powered by Skye Energy last Sunday as Shaun Simpson (Hitachi Revo KTM UK) continued his MX1 win-streak with a hat-trick and Max Anstie (Monster DRT Kawasaki) won all three MX2 races with apparent ease
The formidable Sidcup club put on a great show on a fully revamped Canada Heights course that received widespread praise from riders and fans.
Brad Anderson (MBO Power ASA Yamaha) led the pack into turn one in the first MX1 race but by the time the riders had reached turn three Simpson was in the lead and already pulling away.
Tanel Leok (LPE Kawasaki) was in Anderson's wheel tracks as they came round to complete the first lap with Gert Krestinov (Buildbase Honda) closing in on them rapidly. Jake Nicholls (Wilvo Forkrent KTM) was fifth, despite not being fully fit after his early season crashes, from Graeme Irwin (Heads & All Threads Suzuki) and Martin Barr (BRT KTM).
By the half-way stage Simpson was controlling the race from the front while Leok was doing all he could to try and pass Anderson, with Krestinov watching and ready to take advantage of any mistakes.
Nicholls and Irwin were still in fifth and sixth as Kristian Whatley (Buildbase Honda) moved into seventh place after Barr slipped off.
A mistake from Anderson let both Leok and Krestinov through with four laps to go and Whatley and Irwin battled over sixth to the line.
After a race two restart as the result of a red flag, Nicholls got the holeshot but once again Simpson was in the lead after turn two, with Anderson and Whatley in close company, as Barr went back to the paddock following a startline incident.
By the time four laps had been completed Whatley was in second place from Nicholls, Krestinov and Leok who had just passed the fast-starting Ashley Wilde (Toughsheet Honda).
As the riders started their last lap and with Simpson cruising in the lead, Whatley slipped off his Honda when the front wheel washed out at the top of the course, letting Krestinov through to finish second from Anderson and Leok. Whatley recovered for fifth ahead of Nicholls.
The track was becoming a bit one-lined when the third and final MX1 race started but this didn't bother Simpson who was in the lead by turn two and clearing off into the distance. Anderson was second with Leok, Nicholls, Whatley and Krestinov in his wheel tracks.
