Tommy Searle claimed the first national title of his professional career in Great Britain last weekend, winning the MX1 British title in the final round at Foxhill on his Monster Energy DRT Kawasaki.

Returning this season to Kawasaki, the brand which brought him to the World Championship in 2005 and offered him many of his best MX2 results, Tommy had one of his best season in the MXGP world championship and also contested the British Championship for the first time in nearly a decade.

After winning three races, including the previous two rounds, Tommy was leading defending champion Shaun Simpson by eight points in the series before coming to Foxhill. In both races he just rode his own races to twice finish runner-up, which was enough to secure this title after a very consistent season. Winner of seven motos and finishing a total of fourteen races on the podium, he gave the Monster Energy Dixon Racing Team its first title since the team joined Kawasaki last year. Both now have a strong base to chase even better results next season as Tommy will remain the leader of the British squad. He will line-up this weekend in Maggiora (Italy), as a member of the British team at the 70th Motocross of Nations.

Tommy Searle: "I knew what I needed to do; two seconds is what I had to get and that's what I got. Steve's helped me throughout the year and it's good to be able to repay the favour to Steve and Kawasaki. I'm really happy to have come away with the championship; I've finished 2nd in the World 3 times in MX2 plus 2nd in the MX2 British, but this is the first time I have raced a full British Championship season since 2007 so it's great to have got the job done today. It's been a tough championship battling with Shaun and Jake and I feel I have benefited from racing the series; we have learned a lot with the bike so hats off to the team and sponsors who all play an equal role in enabling me to win."

Steve Dixon (Team Manager): "What can I say, we came here to do a job and Tommy got the exact result we needed to take the British Championship for Kawasaki, their first since 2007 and Tommy's first adult championship. A special thanks to his mechanic Jordan and his training mechanic and suspension technician Keatsy plus everyone else working under the DRT awning - or from afar. None of this would have been possible without Kawasaki, Monster Energy and all our great and very loyal sponsors and friends who help week in week out."
