Tragedy at British Motocross Championship

Following a tragic incident during the third round of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship at Foxhill, the organisers, Langrish MX Club have announced the death of Simon Mitchell – a well-known photographer within the motocross community. A second person who was also injured in the incident was released from hospital on Sunday evening with minor injuries. 

RHL Activities, who promote the series, offered their thoughts and condolences to everyone concerned especially Simon’s family and friends.

The incident occurred in the closing moments of the day’s opening MX1 race with paramedics immediately on the scene attending to the injured parties. Despite their best efforts – and calling for support from the air ambulance service – they were unable to save Simon who succumbed to his injuries.

The event was immediately abandoned with spectators leaving the circuit in a sombre mood.

Following the event there was an outpouring of emotion on social media with many riders, fans and officials all paying tribute to Simon who was a genuine motocross fan as well as a very creative and able photographer. He will be missed and TMX’s thoughts are with Simon’s family and friends at this difficult time.
