Trey-mendous effort

Trey Canard muscled his way to his second win from three starts as the Monster Energy SX series pitched up at Petco Park, San Diego, for round six on Saturday night
After missing the podium last time out Canard meant business from the drop of the gate, stalking Ken Roczen through the early laps before hitting the front on lap four.
Once ahead he rode a near faultless race, keeping his cool as the German kept him in sight for the full duration. At the flag there was just a bike length separating the top two with series leader Ryan Dungey coming home third to keep hold of the red plate.
"It's a long ways to go,” said Canard. "This is round six of 17 so we've got a lot of racing but, man, it's great to win. I'm so thankful...I'm just pumped. I just tried to stay focussed and ride my race. The track was tough, it was so slick.”
Early series pace-setter Roczen was happy to return to the podium after two below par performances saw him lose the championship lead to his former team-mate. Time and time again he looked as though he was lining up Canard but small errors - and back-markers - meant he never got close enough to make a move
