Preparations are well under way for the second annual Thomas Brown Memorial Weekend at the Route 44 MX track, Haverigg, on September 8/9.

Thomas, who was one of the biggest personalities on the northern race scene, tragically died after a practice track crash in April 2017 and the meeting will commemorate his life and raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance.

Run in association with the MCF and Cumbria MXC, the meeting will cater for all schoolboy and adult classes as well as twin-shocks and there will also be a race for dads and mechanics. Last years event attracted over 200 riders which is testament to just how highly though of Thomas was and still is.

Off the track there will be no shortage of entertainment with a beer tent, disco and Thomas Afterparty on the Saturday night along with a raffle and charity auction with the star lot a signed Tim Gajser race shirt.

The Route 44 circuit renamed after Thomas race number is now one of the best MX tracks in the UK following an extensive remodelling by Alfie Smith using money collected from a Just Giving page set up in Thomas memory and donations of time, machinery, fuel and sponsorship.

Thomas family shared the following message

"We cannot thank everyone enough for the help, support and kindness shown to us since we lost Thomas. He is greatly missed by us all but we feel sure that the fun weekend running now for the second year is something he would be very proud of so get entered and ride hard and play hard in his memory."

All entries which close on August 31 will be taken online. Log on to www.mcfederation.com/event-entries to get yours in.

Sponsorship and event donations will be greatly appreciated and there is also trade stand space available. For more details call Karen on 07725 235818.
