STORM force winds on Saturday quickly dried the hills and bank-sides down in Cornwall before the second round of the ACU Traditional Trials Champ-ionship which took place just a couple of miles inland from Perranporth.Several much travelled competitors sampled some of Newquay's nightlife and there were a few bleary eyes wandering around prior to the 9.30am start at Braefel House, Rejerrah and everyone was relieved that the day turned out dry and mild.

BRITISH SIDECAR TRIALS CHAMPS

THE Colin Dommett Trial in Newquay got off to a tricky start for most crews on Sunday with the first section proving difficult with tight turns through trees, slippery roots and muddy banks to negotiate.
The Newcomers were first through, with Seemond Stephens and Gary Davey the only team to take a dab. The Clubman were next with three crews going through clean. With the Inters next, the ground was getting churned up and the roots nicely polished, causing problems for them all. Kevin Nolan and Karl Jarvis were the only Experts to go through for a dab.
Section three in group three proved to be the next challenge, with extremely steep bankings and a river section to test everyone's nerve. The first few double subs didn't cause too much discomfort but with the river water being brought up onto some big tree roots, crews were beginning to struggle for grip. Kevin Morley and Sam Luscombe were the first to end up waist height in the river after an unsuccessful hill climb. Meanwhile it all proved to be stacking up against Roger Tuck. A broken mudguard and a puncture were the final straw – he decided to call it a day.
