Buildbase Hondas Kristian Whatley was forced to spectate over the weekend at Weston-super-Mare after fracturing his left collarbone in a practice crash the previous Monday

The 25-year-old was testing suspension at Culham Park when he clipped his footpeg on a trackside banking.

He underwent an operation to plate the break on Thursday morning and is hoping to be back in action this weekend at round four of the Maxxis series at Hawkstone Park.

"These things never come at a good moment but it's happened and I need to deal with it,” said Kristian.

"The operation went well and I am now giving it 110 per cent to be back for Hawkstone.

"I can't say anymore than that at the moment so let's see how it goes.”

Kristian had an unbeaten race record in this year's Michelin MX Nationals but after missing Saturday's fourth round on the Somerset sands he's now tied on points with Martin Barr.

"I am gutted for both Kristian and his mechanic Ryan,” added team boss Dave Thorpe, "as they have really been working hard over the last few weeks to be in good shape for Hawkstone.

"Everything was going really well and they had made some great progress and then this happens.

"Right now it feels like we have taken three steps forward and two back. But that's racing for you.”
