Watson lines up Skegness triple
By Mike Wood on 2nd Nov 16
WEC contender Nathan Watson heads the entry this weekend (November 5-6) for the seventh staging of the Skegness Beach Motocross event.
The Red Bull Factory KTM rider is going for his hat-trick after winning in 2012 and 2013 and will be racing a specially-prepped 350 EXC-F supplied by private sponsor Richard Bellamy of Contract Furniture UK.
With three-time world champion David Knight forced to withdraw, Watson's main competition is likely to come from riders including Oli Benton, Richard McKeown and Matt Moffat and, to add some extra spice, Watson's dad Rob Meek – a former Weston Beach race winner – is also entered.
Racing starts at 10am on Saturday with a 90-minute Clubman solo contest followed by a two-hour combined Quads and Sidecars race. It's the big one the following day with the three-hour main solo race.
The AMCA has been working with the Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure and Culture to ensure another successful weekend and the East Lindsey District Council has again provided unwavering support for the event.
There's no charge for spectators and all the usual beachside food outlets, bars and specialist trade stands will also be open. Dunlop will be on-site all weekend offering a tyre sales and fitting service.
