The first FIM-Europe Women's MX Cup will be held at Cieszyn in Poland on 21-22 May 2016 in conjunction with a round of the EMX65/85 North East Europe zone.

The event is open to women of a minimum age of 15 years old riding MX2 specification motorcycles (250cc 4-strokes or 125cc 2-strokes). The top four women in the FIM World Championship for 2015 and 2014 are excluded from entering but the event is open to any rider from any Continental Union, not just Europe.

The main idea behind creation of the new cup is to ensure that the success of the Women´s Motocross World Championship will continue into the future and that the number and level of the riders will stay at high level when women are able to get international racing experience from the European Cup level not just from the World Championship level.

"The introduction of the FIM-Europe Women's MX Cup is a great and important step in the fast and strong growing development of women´s motocross. It will provide riders a stepping-stone to the FIM Women´s Motocross World Championship. At the FIM Women in Motorcycling Commission we are grateful for the support of our idea of this cup from FIM Europe and Youthstream and for them making this possible”,says FIM Women in Motorcycling Commission´s motocross representative Peter Isgren.

"It is the aim of FIM-Europe to increase the number of events to 3 or 4 and make this a full European Championship in 2017 thus building the base of the pyramid to the World Championship”, commented FIM-Europe Motocross Commission Chairman, Eddie Herd.
