World Trials Championship: The story so far

After five busy rounds in the World Trials Championship calendar, the series now has a moment to breathe and reflect...
The season got underway at the end of April with the opening round in Japan where defending champion Toni Bou – Repsol Honda signalled his intent to add another title to his tally with two solid wins at round one. It was much the same story at the second round in the Czech Republic as Bou made it four wins in a row, but the difference on that occasion was that Adam Raga – Gas Gas confirmed himself as Toni's main challenger with two strong runners-up placings after a mixed showing in Motegi.
Sweden made a welcome return to the calendar for round three as Bou continued his victorious run with two further victories in Scandinavia. Toni was in no mood to surrender his unbeaten record as the series then moved onto Great Britain a week later. Here the Repsol rider destroyed the opposition on day two and extended his 100% winning rate to eight on the bounce. This was a continuing story at the French GP just six days later as again he ran out an easy victor on the first day of competition to take his win tally to nine in a row.
Then twenty-four hours later all changed as Raga broke the pattern and stopped Bou's long winning run on the second day in France. Having tasted victory once, Adam was hungry for more and duly satisfied his triumphant appetite as he then recorded back-to-back wins just last weekend in Andorra to give Bou plenty to think about as the championship breaks for a couple of weeks before heading over to America later this month.
