SPHERICAL TECHNOLOGY POWERED BY MIPS
As the demands of racing increase, so does the need for increased protection. The Moto-10 is the first offroad helmet to offer Spherical Technology powered by MIPS. Created in the Bell+Giro testing Dome in Scotts Valley, CA, our proprietary Spherical Technology features a Ball-and-Socket design that helps redirect impact forces away from the brain, allowing the outer liner to rotate around the inner liner during a crash.
Because of the Spherical Technology channels inside the first-of-its-kind segmented 3k carbon shell, we achieve superior sweat management, weight reduction, and ventilation like never beforeall without
compromising energy management.
SEGMENTED 3K SHELL
Getting cool air in the helmet is key but expelling hot air out of the helmet is even more important. Another first in the industry, the Moto-10s segmented shell design provides a large exhaust vent, ensuring the rider stays comfortable and cool. Combined with our proven 3k carbon and you have the looks, light weight, and performance to attack the track.
THERMAL EXCHANGE AIRFLOW SYSTEM
This ventilation is so extreme, we named it the Thermal Exchange Airflow System (T.E.A.S.) because of how it sucks in cool air like a vacuum and then expels hot air through the side and rear exhaust
ports. And as any rider knows, ventilation and sweat management go hand-in-hand.
Take it from Cooper Webb: I can feel the sweat running down my forehead, then getting pushed across my brow and away from my googles. Excited yet?
NMR BUMPERS
Its not just the interior of the Moto-10 thats protecting the rider, its the exterior as well. We constructed two NMR (No Missed Races) bumpers on either side of the helmet. These bumpers are made with a softer EPP material that compresses under load but bounces back to its original form, helping to reduce the likelihood of further injury caused from the helmet contacting your body. While no crash is good, a broken collar bone will keep you out of the Championship.
PANORAMIC GOGGLE PORT
To top things off, the Moto-10 offers a Panoramic Goggle portthe largest in the market. The wider port provides better fitment, optimal sealing, and a massive field of view, increasing the riders
visibility and safety when needed most.
MAGNEFUSION CHEEK PAD EMERGENCY RELEASE SYSTEM
Our Magnefusion magnetic cheek pads are easy to remove for washing and enable emergency responders to easily detach the cheek pads first before the helmet following an impact.
SWEAT MANAGEMENT
The Moto-10 was built for the fastest racers in the world, and every racer knows managing moisture is important mid moto. With the combination of T.E.A.S., Spherical venting channels, and a segmented shell, we created not only industry-leading ventilation but also the ability to force perspiration across the riders brow away from their goggles preserving vision late in a race.
VIRUS COOLJADE LINER
To withstand the heat exchange and hard use, we added a Virus CoolJade liner. This removable, washable liner is made of fabric that has been infused with recycled jade to create a natural cooling effect. The ultra-wicking construction combined with CoolJadeinfused yarn decreases your skin surface temperature up to 10 Fkeeping you cool, comfortable, and focused on the race at hand.
FLYING BRIDGE VISOR
Not all visors are created equal. The Flying Bridge Visor design allows more flexibility and improves airflow across the helmet. By not using a traditional centre post and screw concept, were able to increase the amount of energy management material in a high impact zone.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
The 500-TX was born from pure function and remains a legacy in the sport. Not only was this the first purpose-built helmet to combine a fibreglass shell with an expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam liner, but the soft radius and uninterrupted lines became the archetype of the modern helmet.
This functional design has remained a vital part of our moto helmet line and earned the Excellence of Design Award from the Museum of Modern Art. Four vintage 500-TX helmets are on continuous display at the museum to keep the Bell history alive.
MADE FOR MX
Drawing inspiration from the Bell Star, the first full-face helmet in the market, the MotoStar was designed specifically to meet the unique and demanding requirements of motocross racing.
The first of its kind, the Moto Star took a one-piece fibreglass shell and widened the eye port big enough for goggles, while adding extra facial protection around the nose to defend against flying rocks and debris. This combination created the first iteration of the chin bar a functional design that would lay the groundwork for all off-road helmets to come.
THE BENCHMARK
By the late 1970s, motocross had ignited a new wave of riders, manufacturers, and races across the globe. The need for progressive protection was met with the Moto-3, tested and developed by Bell champions like Bob Hannah, Roger DeCoster and Larry Roeseler.
It offered a smaller, lighter fibreglass shell for better balance, a contoured shape that protected the nose, mouth and chin, and slotted air vents with the first integrated dust filter for increased air supply.
Offering protection beyond any prior helmet and looking like nothing else on earth, the Moto-3 was immediately adopted by the sports most legendary racers and became the standard by which all others were measured.
ROOM TO BREATHE
Keeping the classic round silhouette as seen on the Moto Star, gave the Moto-4 more breathing room to innovate in other areas of helmet protection. This was the first design to look more closely at ventilation and visor adjustment. The centre mouth vent piece was larger and more prominent than the rest. Accompanied by two smaller air ports on the left and right side of the chin bar, the Moto-4 created a ventilation trend that would evolve and be a distinct feature for all future Bell motocross helmets.
BELLS & WHISTLES
With previous success of the Moto-4s ventilation design, the Moto-5 took airflow to the next level. A redesigned system created a venturi-effect, accelerating airflow at the sides and rear of the helmet. In addition, tunnel ram ducts on the adjustable visor increased airflow around the scalp, making this the most ventilated design to date.
As motocross was getting bigger and more competitive, so was the Moto-5s list of features the newly designed EPS foam liner, removable and washable padding, goggle grabbers, and neoprene roost defector mouthpiece all came standard.
SELF EXPRESSION
Where would the sport be without the McGrath Era? Starting his early career in the Moto-5, the Moto-6 was designed to support the increased demands of winning supercross and motocross championshipsseen by the King himself. The interior liner was upgraded for more plush, while the exterior introduced a new visor design with upgraded hardware.
The outside shell dimensions stayed consistent and true to the round Bell shape, providing the ultimate canvas for a new wave of custom graphics. On-track personalities started to shine, alter-egos were born, and legendary nicknames such as Showtime were solidified on the Moto-6.
LEAN & MEAN
In the early 2000s, racers in both MX and SX classes were representing regions from around the world. A handful of fast Americans, Frenchmen like Tortelli and Roncada, the Fonz from Costa Rica, and Langston from South Africa were all competing for titlesand all riding Bell.
Coming in at 2.9lbs, the Moto-7 was light, fast, and ready to handle the heat. The new visor design extended further for better aerodynamics and airflow, and the new double side port vents and interior liner created better circulation inside the helmet for those brutal days at the track.
But nothing was more noticeable than the updated mouthpiece. The fierce chrome finish and widened centre vents on the Moto-7 marked a new generation of ventilation and aggressive design.
NEXT LEVEL
Leveraging input from the worlds best racers and inventing new proprietary technology, the Moto-8 was in a league of its own.
This was the first helmet to introduce a lightweight, single cloth Tri-Weave Kevlar, carbon fibre, and fibreglass composite shell. With a newly designed EPS liner that extended into the chin bar, the entirety of the helmet was strengthened and provided the protection and confidence needed to compete, and win.
Other firsts included the new Flying Bridge Visor that relied on a unique pivot configuration with side-only attachment points for adjustability, full stability, and uninterrupted airflow over the top of the helmet. With 11 intake ports systematically designed using computer simulation and wind-tunnel testing, the new Velocity Flow Ventilation system added vents in the chin bar, forehead, and top of the shell with exhaust ports through the lower rear of the helmet.
PRO DNA
New from the ground up, the Moto-9 not only improved fit, ventilation, and comfort, but added safety features like Magnefusion Magnetic Emergency Release Cheek Pads that would set a new standard in the industry. Soon after launching, it was upgraded to a full carbon shell, making it the most advanced helmet on the market. Full stop. With extensive feedback on comfort and design from Supercross and Motocross champion, James Stewart, combined with new patented technology, the Moto-9 carried every strand of professional DNA.
FLEX PROTECTS
No matter how much the sport progresses, off-road racing will always be unpredictable. To address this, the Moto-9 Flex took the Moto-9 platform and added a new technology called Flex for multiple impact scenarios. A first-of-its-kind, the design combined a three-layer impact liner made of EPS, EPP, and EPO materials that created an energy management system that excelled in low, mid, and highspeed impacts. An additional slip zone within the impact liner allowed subtle movement between the inner layers and worked to help reduce rotational energy transfer from angular impacts.
