Christian Craig goes from first to last in AMA
By Sean Lawless on 25th Apr 18
A crash on the opening lap while leading ended Team Honda HRC fill-in rider Christian Craigs chances of a podium finish at round 15 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series at Foxborough on Saturday night.
Craig, who will stay with the team for the outdoor season while Cole Seely recovers from a broken hip, holeshot the Main but got off-line off a double and landed on tuff blocks.
Restarting at the back, he managed to salvage 11th at the end of the 20-minute and two lap Main Event.
I didnt have that good of a gate pick going into the Main, he said, so I ended up picking the first gate on the inside but was confident in it because the rut was prime. I got the holeshot, which I havent done in a while, so that felt good.
I led for about half-a-lap before making a dumb mistake on my part I cross-rutted off a double and landed on some tuff blocks. Once I got going I was dead last so I just put my head down, focused and tried to push forward the best I could.
I probably couldve ridden better toward the end and made up a few more positions but it couldve been worse. Im happy with my start and am going to take what I learned into these last two races.
