AMA Supercross Daytona Jeremy Martin
The biggest surprise to come out of Saturday nights Daytona SX was the incredible form of Honda HRC fill-in rider Jeremy Martin who made his career debut in the 450 class.
After struggling in qualifying he only got 18th gate pick for the Main Event but that didn't stop him grabbing the holeshot and leading for half the race before Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Kawasaki) inevitably went through.
Jeremy's having a miserable series in the 250 West Coast series where he currently sits ninth but taking Ken Roczen's 450 to second in Daytona could be just the boost he needs when the series picks up again in Seattle on April 8.
"I just had a good feeling today,” he said. "That new Honda is amazing. Today was my eighth day on the bike and I've really enjoyed it and working with the whole Factory Honda team.
"I had 18th gate pick and I was on the outside. I knew I had to do something so I threw it into the first turn on the outside and I railed the crap out of that berm. To be able to lead was just so cool.”
