Ken Roczen cancels all personal appearances over Coronavirus fears

Ken Roczen has cancelled any personal appearances and fan signings for the foreseeable future due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Before last weekend's Supercross in Atlanta, Roczen had already expressed concern about Coronavirus. Travelling from state to state, week to week is a fact of life for Supercross athletes and Ken explained that he had started to wear a facemask in certain situations where he felt vulnerable.

And with the continued spread of Covid-19, Roczen has taken advice from his doctors to limit contact with the general public.

The 25-year-old explained on social media that with the battering his body had taken over recent years, he is more at risk. He promised fans he would make it up to them and asked for their understanding.

Posting on Instagram, the German star said: It is difficult for me to make this announcement as I love my fans and they are one of the most important aspects of racing. But due to the Coronavirus, I won't be attending any dealer signings or personal appearances until my doctors and my team and I feel it is safe for me to do so. Unfortunately, whether I like it or not, my immune system and my body in general, are not what they used to be after all the surgeries and trauma that I had. Being healthy is a key to my success and I want to make sure I race every single weekend at my highest level and put on a show for the fans, my friends and family.

Thanks for understanding and I promise my team and I will make it up to everyone who showed up at the races or dealer signings to see me!!

We wouldn't be surprised to see some other riders/teams follow Roczen's lead.
