AMA Supercross St. Louis Cooper Webb
Practice crash injuries may have ended any hopes of a top-five finish in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship standings for defending champ Cooper Webb.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing has announced that Webb will miss the St. Louis Supercross round after suffering a practice crash that left him pretty banged up while training in Florida this week.
The defending 450SX Champion did not sustain any serious injuries, and he will use this next week to recover in hopes of lining up at Round 14 in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 16.
Webb was one of the hot favourites for the 450SX championship coming into this season, but it's fair to say he's struggled (by his high standards) throughout the campaign. While he's found the podium four times so far this year, a win has been elusive. Entering the St. Louis Supercross round, Webb sits fifth in the standings with 208 points, just two ahead of team-mate Marvin Musquin. Chase Sexton, who has suffered from injuries this season, is in seventh with 183 points.
Webb commented on the news vias social media: "Hey guys, not the news I wanted to share. I had a practice crash on Wednesday and will be sitting out St. Louis this weekend. A tough few weeks, but well be back. Going to rest up and hope to see yall in ATL"
